Who is Slash Coleman?
Slashtipher J. Coleman, aka Slash Coleman, is best known for his
award winning one man show,
The Neon Man and Me, which ran
Off-Broadway in 2007 and began to air as  PBS special in the fall of
2008. Among his many industry accomplishments, his shows have
earned him the
Groucho Award for best one Man show of 2005,
Style Weekly's
Top 40 Under 40 award in 2006 and in 2008 he was
nominated for the Virginia Governor's Award in the Arts.

Following in the footsteps of  his heroes, Eve Ensler, Tyler Perry,
and Nia Vardolos,  Slash considers himself, first and foremost, a
playwright and performer of his own
one-man shows.

What are the themes of Slash's shows?

Slash writes mostly about the things that are most important to him, his
family, spirituality, and love. Coincidentally, these are the same things that
have troubled him the most through the years.

In 2004, he toured theaters nationally with
Love in Boxes, in 2005 -2008
with
The Neon Man and Me and in 2007 with Slash Coleman has Big
Matzo Balls.
Why did the media pose the idea that Slash is a renaissance man
who seems to
"do it with mirrors?"

As an artist of many mediums, Slash has been quite prolific and
seems to be in many places at once.

As a
painter, Slash has exhibited his artwork in his own gallery as well
as galleries across the United States. He has created commissions
for Stash Tea Inc, State Farm Insurance, and Smith College.

As an
educator, he has served both as a dean of education and as a
teacher on the faculty of four healing arts schools around the country
where he has taught business development, marketing, and massage
classes. He even published a book,
“Is My Chakra Pretty?”(About Vision
2004
)  which chronicles his experiences in his successful west coast
healing arts clinic.

As a musician, he's released two singer/songwriter CD's -
Conversations with a Fisherking and Conversations with a Southern
Wonder Boy  -
and played for many years as a jazz pianist where he
gained his initial stage experience.
Did Slash study art in school?
Slash studied writing and jazz piano at Radford University, Middlesex
University in London, and at Columbia College in Chicago where he
received his Master's Degree. He went on to earn a degree at East West
College of the Healing Arts and furthered his studies at the Upledger
Institute and Oregon College of Oriental Medicine.

He grew up in his father's art studio where he learned to draw and paint.
